Custom Hearing Protection
Hearing loss challenges are easily treatable and preventable. Remember all those times you came back from a live event, like a concert or a sports game, with ringing ears? (We’ve all been there!)
Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) has skyrocketed to become the second-most common cause of hearing loss. Prolonged exposure to dangerous noise levels can cause NIHL, like listening to loud music for too long, sitting in a busy location with lots of noise, or exposure to a single noise trauma, such as a gunshot or an explosion.
If you find that you’re returning home from work with a plugged-up feeling in your ears, or if you do chores around the house that require loud tools to do them (vacuuming, mowing the lawn, home building projects, etc.), then maybe you’ve been wondering, “Where can I find custom hearing protection near me?”
The Ear Depot can help. Our personalized earplugs and hearing protection can safeguard your hearing from the loud noises you listen to each day, whether that be construction noise, factory machinery, blasting music or more.

Turn Down the Volume!
We measure noise in decibel (dB) units. For a regular person’s hearing, 85 dB and lower is considered a safe level of noise for our hearing to remain undamaged. Decibels work on a logarithmic scale, meaning that for each decibel a noise increases by, it’s getting exponentially louder – every 3 dB above 85 dB that a noise goes up by cuts the exposure time in half for safe hearing levels.
A few examples of loud noises that would cause damage with prolonged exposure include:
- 90 dB: Blender, Lawnmower
- 110 dB: Leaf Blower, Car Horn
- 120 dB: Rock Concert, Ambulance Siren
- 130 dB: Power Drill
- 140 dB: Airplane Taking Off, Fireworks
- 150 dB: Shotgun Blast
Are you exposed to some of these noises frequently? Custom hearing protection could save your hearing from hearing loss challenges.
For musicians, your ears are your livelihood; it’s important to look after your hearing so you can continue to hear the songs you make and love. With custom-made earmolds and earplugs, your hearing will continue to serve you as you need it to rock out better and longer.
Construction workers and those around heavy machinery are constantly exposed to loud noise as part of the job. No matter what job you’re tasked with, it’s important to be able to hear the workspace around you, and with custom hearing protection, your ears will be well looked after.
FAQs about Custom Hearing Protection
Q. Why do I need hearing protection?
Q. What’s the best kind of hearing protection?
Q. What do musicians earplugs do?
Q. How do you get a custom earmold of my ear?
We take a mold of your ear using an impression system; we put the solution into your ear, which is harmless and safe, and wait for it to set before removing it. That way, we have a clear idea of what your ear looks like on the inside and ensure the earplug fits snugly.
