Your Possibilities to Address a Hearing Challenge in 2025

by | Feb 11, 2025 | Hearing Aids, Patient Resources

Looking to optimize your hearing this year? You’re in the right place. Our team of hearing health professionals can provide gold-standard hearing care and personalized treatment to fit your every need along your hearing health journey.

By 2050, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 2.5 billion people will have some degree of hearing loss. You’ve already got a 25-year head start by reading this and deciding to look after your hearing!

Everyone hears the world differently; your hearing health journey should be as unique as you are. From simple fixes and amplification to professional-led care with that expert touch, here are your most up-to-date methods for treating a hearing loss challenge.

Hearing Technology vs. Hearing Healthcare

While many individuals believe that hearing loss is “solved” with the introduction of hearing aids, the reality is that great technology is just a tool to help you along your hearing health journey.

The care that you receive from a hearing aid professional is what makes the biggest difference to your hearing health. An expert’s guidance and personalized recommendations can help lead you to lasting success, thanks to tailor-made treatment plans to help your unique needs.

Ask anyone you know with hearing aids, or find out what our previous patients had to say – hearing aids help, of course, but it’s the care behind the technology that helps the most as you make moves to enhance your hearing capabilities.

After all, some things are best left to the professionals.

What Are Your Options for Addressing Hearing Loss?

Whether you’re looking for a solo solution you can fit at home or a guided treatment plan with expert help, there are several options on the market for addressing hearing loss.

1. Personal Sound Amplification Products (PSAPs)

PSAPs are similar to a magnifying glass for seeing: they amplify every sound the microphone picks up, allowing for a quick volume boost to any situation. However, that means all sounds, including the ones you don’t necessarily want to hear.

PSAPs also don’t address hearing concerns like earwax buildup or tinnitus, so it’s possible that general amplification isn’t what your ears truly need.

2. Costco Kirkland-Branded Hearing Aids

With so many Costcos in close proximity, many of which have hearing centers, it makes sense that many people we see wonder about the difference between prescription devices and Costco’s Kirkland-brand hearing aids.

They’re quick to prescribe and fit after an in-store hearing test and can provide some hearing relief – but due to Costco’s retailer status, follow-up care can take weeks to get.

Costco’s in-store hearing test is a pure-tone audiometry test, a basic assessment for hearing loss; in comparison, a professional hearing assessment is more exhaustive and provides detailed results about your hearing, including struggles of tinnitus or how well you interpret speech in noise.

3. Working with a Local Clinic of Experts

For any and all hearing health concerns, working with a local clinic is your best bet for a straightforward and personalized approach to optimizing your hearing health.

If after a comprehensive hearing test it’s found that your hearing could benefit from the use of prescription hearing aids, your hearing aid specialist will help with recommendations and guidance to find the best devices for you and your unique hearing needs.

Modern advancements in hearing aid technology mean that today’s devices are equipped with several great upgrades to help enhance your hearing, from Bluetooth compatibility, health monitoring, smartphone connectivity and more.

No matter what you and your ears need, our team can provide personalized recommendations that work best for you and your needs, from your hearing diagnosis to your lifestyle choices. We’re here to help!

4. Cochlear Implants

Cochlear implants are surgically implanted assistive hearing devices for when hearing aids don’t quite hit the mark. For individuals with a severe to profound hearing loss, a cochlear implant could be the direction you need to take for enhanced hearing health.

While we do not fit cochlear implants ourselves, if you believe that it could be the technology you need for your hearing, we’d be happy to refer you to a local specialist for further guidance.
